Time flies, dirt happens, bugs bite. Is it really June? Have we really made it this far? So it seems. The lilacs are fading, poppies are blooming, I keep watering my dirt hoping it will turn into grass.
My driveway has been taken over by a load of logs. Not quite where I had wanted the load to be dropped, so I’m a bit annoyed. It’s creating a wall between the driveway and the shed. I don’t know how I’m going to get my lawnmower to the lawn (there are parts that do grow). A load of logs portends much work in the next few months. Navarre and I are looking at it as an opportunity for exercise, togetherness, and energy independence.
But I’m telling things out of order. Saturday morning Navarre and I went to see a lady about a wood stove. We put a deposit down on a beautiful soap stone unit (I will post pictures once we manage getting it here). It will look good in the living room and should heat the house nicely. We’re buying it together. We don’t even live together but we are purchasing an expensive wood stove together. It’s the biggest step we’ve taken as a couple. An odd step, but one which makes me pause to consider the seriousness of our situation. It’s all fun and games until you take on the challenge of heating with wood. So now if we break up I’ll have to buy him out of a stove and find some other guy willing to cut and split nine cords of wood. And I felt all entangled putting our laundry into the same hamper…
Speaking of laundry, the dryer just buzzed at me. Time to fold, then upstairs for a shower to wash the itchiness of bug bites from my legs.
