One of my favorite people at work is transferring to another office and today was her last day with us. A bunch of us went out for drinks after work. Fun fun. I am fortunate to work with such fun people, but am sad that the funnest of all is leaving us.
We had a four-day stretch of hazy-hot-humid weather that ended with a bang Tuesday night. A terrific thunder storm! I had gone to bed early but Navarre got me up to watch the storm with him and it was fantastic. A marvelous ensemble production - wind, hail, driving rain, thunder, lightning.
I’ve been wanting to write for days, but I’ve been over-tired. Last weekend I attended a sleep-over with my law school girlfriends and didn’t get as much sleep as I need to. I’ve been dragging ever since. But we had a great time. One friend is getting ready to burst with baby. Babies everywhere! When do I get one?
I slept enough last night and am feeling much better about the world today (plus I’ve had a few beers - I love beer!). I look outside and see how magical and green and sunny and beautiful life here is.
Last night Navarre and I finally got around to down-loading and watching the Frontline program “Bad Voodoo’s War” which aired back in April. It is a virtual embed with a California National Guard platoon running convoy security in Iraq. I held Navarre’s hand as he viewed territory and circumstances that were all-too familiar to him. The production was excellent and I am grateful to have a glimpse into what he and others have experienced during tours in Iraq. It is both frustrating and inspiring to watch. I also highly recommend “The War Tapes,” a similar project by the same filmmaker.
Time to find something to eat. Navarre is off serving his country for a couple days. I am home, serving my kitties. Meow.
